Welcome to Beighton Falcons, we are a fast growing junior and now senior football club based in Beighton, a village near Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

Beighton Falcons were formed in June 2001. The club was originally conceived as a 'B' team to Beighton Magpies whilst Mark Heeley was their Secretary and was originally named Beighton Eagles. However after stepping down from his post at Magpies to concentrate on the newly formed club it was decided to change the name to Beighton Falcons and become an independent, self-financing club with its own administration.

The club ran with one junior team for its first two seasons before expanding during 2003 to four teams playing in the relevant age groups of the Sheffield & District Sunday Junior league.

The season 2003 - 2004 brought the Club’s first success when the original team (then under 14s) gained promotion at the third attempt.
The season 2004 - 2005 saw the club start up its fifth team and during the season our under 11s won their division, only losing one game all season.

This season (2005 - 2006) saw the club continue to improve with the now under 12s winning the Aston Juniors Tournament close season. The club exspanded to eight junior teams and also started up its first Senior team, which was entered in the Regional Alliance Sunday Football League. The season saw our newly formed under 10s gain promotion and the under 12s winning the Fair Play Award for the whole of their age group as well as the club becoming a development club for Rotherham United.

This season 2006 - 2007 saw the setting up of two girls teams and just prior to the start of the season the club was awarded the FA Charter Standard Award to show the club meets the FAs criteria on how a club should be run.

This season 2007 - 2008 the club managed to meet its aim of entering a team at every age group in the boys junior league as well as girls and mens teams in their respective leagues. Both the under 10s and under 12s teams both gained promotion. Both the Under 11s and 13s Girls won the Fair Play award for their Division and the Girls under 12s won the Wickersley Youth Tournament.

For season 2008 - 2009 the club will now have its own home grounds based at Rainbow Forge School at Hackenthorpe and it is hoped through grants from various bodies that we will be able to develop the area to meet all our needs. This season will also see the forming of an Over 35s team as well as the setting up of a number of extra girls teams.

To help the financial running of the club each team is sponsored by one or more local businesses.

The Aims of the Club (Junior Section)

The aims of the club are to provide football coaching/training during the football season and throughout the summer for boys and girls from Beighton, Hackenthorpe and the surrounding areas. In addition the club aims to improve individual football skills, team play and encourage responsible social attitudes. The club registers the teams with the league and pays the appropriate fees.

The club also provides the following:-

- insurance cover for the players whilst playing and training.
- the same football kit in the club colours for the players.
- footballs, nets and other training equipment as well as basic first adi materials.
- encourage anyone who is interested in attending referees and coaching courses to obtain qualifications.
- involve the players in social activities other than football.

The Committee

The club is run by two committees who make decisions and co-ordinate the activities of the club.

The Executive committee comprises of the Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Child Protection Officer and the Club's Development Officers and Senior Coach and this committee oversee the future development and day to day running of the club and can co-op members onto the committee for certain projects or tasks.

The Management committee comprises of all the above plus team managers and parents representatives from each team as well as the Social Secretary.

We send a representative to attend the various meetings of the league, which are normally held on a monthly basis.

The club has a Child Protection Officer who is responsible for all issues regarding the health and protection of the children in our care. This position was created to comply with mandatory rules that were implemented for the 2000-2001 season by the relevant authorities in Sheffield.
