The F.A introduced the requirement that all junior football clubs must have a Child Protection Officer and a Child Protection Policy in place from 1st September 2000.

As a result of this directive Beighton Falcons have their own Child Protection Officer who is available to listen to the concerns or worries of any child or adult involved with the club, with regard to child protection issues.

Child abuse takes many forms and can be inflicted on the child by a parent/guardian, other family member, friend or stranger. The abuse may be intentional or occur as a result of failure to provide adequate care and protection.

Beighton Falcons, intend to do their best in providing a safe environment for the player at both matches and training sessions.

-  All players and parents/guardians will be aware of the location and times of training sessions and be given a fixture list for all matches.

-  Team manager(s) will have available, in confidence, information about a child’s medical condition and any necessary medication they may need.

-  Children will be supervised by the manager(s) and authorised assistants at training sessions and matches.

-  Children will be encouraged to behave responsibly and safely.

-  The training will take in to consideration the child’s ability and potential, and not exceed their capabilities in an excessive manner.

-  The child will be actively encouraged to improve, be given realistic goals to achieve, and will not be exposed to destructive criticism or put under unrealistic pressure to perform to high expectations constantly.

Team manager(s) and other club officials should avoid situations that may give the opportunity for false accusations to me made:

-    do not spend time alone with children

-    do not travel alone with children

-    do not become involved in rough games

-    do not allow use of inappropriate language

-    do not ignore any allegations made by any child

-    do not become involved in any sexually provocative games, improper touching of any kind or engage in any suggestive comments.

Any allegations made should be reported to the child protection officer as soon as possible. Any reports of child abuse will be investigated and, if necessary, reported to the relevant authorities.

The local authorities have vetted and approved all our manager(s), trainers and club officials.
